[ He's startled for a moment, tensed and nearly ready to start striking at the sudden appearance of someone very near to him — but then he realizes who it is. He's hugging her back in the next second, just as tightly. No more of him seems to be metal than last time — really, he doesn't seem much different at all.
He considers making a joke, but the debate doesn't last long at all. Actually, he'd much rather kiss her. So he does just that, pulling back just far enough to line up the angles first. Gods, he's missed these lips. ]
As Much As I Appreciated The Relative Atmosphere Of Unity That Flourished During The Albatross Affair The United Earth Following Is Not Exactly An Acceptable Risk
[ He doesn't much mind being pushed away, but Steph isn't the only one with hands up to frame a face. He sets one at each side, palms at her neck and thumbs stroking her cheeks fondly. The left one is cold — he hasn't bothered with gloves in a while. ]
Have I really been away so long that you'd grow so cold? Why, a triumphantly returning war hero really ought to have a kiss!
[ Nevermind that he already grabbed said kiss. Double nevermind that he's not any kind of returning war hero. He grins, adds: ] Or two. Three, for luck?
[ He draws back somewhat further, but can't let go entirely. It just means that he drops his hands to rest at her forearms, still standing terribly close. ]
I'd ask about all that I missed, but really, I'm a bit more interested in what you've been up to. Not married yet, are you?
[ Ah, so Saul is still in the picture. Her reluctance makes sense, then. Ah, well. But to the rest, he quirks a smile and leans in, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek, just at the corner of her mouth. ]
That's why I'm not asking about it, my dear.
[ He steps away, but holds tight to one of her hands to pull her along. ]
Let's see what supplies we have lying about in the kitchen! It's been far too long since I've cooked anything for someone.
[The kiss makes her sigh. She really would like to just drag him to a bed and forget about everything for a little while, but she won't do that to Saul. Especially not know.
Still, she follows without hesitation.]
What a coincidence, I can't remember the last time I ate a proper meal.
Well, considering we're on the gods-forsaken moon, I can hardly doubt it. [ He huffs. ] And might I add — it's a bit shameful that we're all still here.
i don't know exact numbers, not every meta is public about it, but there'd have to be over a hundred superheroes operating in the usa at least. plus as many supervillains, a lot of them would help if it was a full scale invasion, since they don't exactly wanna lose their world, either.
[ He glances back at that, suffering a tiny stirring of guilt. Knowing Steph, that's probably a bit of a sore spot. She might even think she should have single-handedly fixed it by now. ]
Ah, well, it can't last. We'll manage that sooner or later.
[ He comes to a fork in the maze of VR rooms and pauses briefly, consulting his mental map of the place. Then he's got it, and they're moving on again. ]
I'm a bit hesitant to see what the kitchen has in store, though. Who's been running supply runs, do you know? I hope they knew what they were doing with kitchen stocking.
