Exsilium; CR CHART

Ellie Linton
The Tomorrow Series

"There's nothing wrong with your body, but it belongs to you. I'm happy you're in it. It's where you've lived your stories, and where you got to be Steph. No one else could live up to being you. They don't deserve you, or your stories, or all the wonderful and terrible things you've lived through in your body. All right?"

Ellie is the first person that Steph has really connected with in the city, having quickly understood the desperation in the other girl that war breeds. Their circumstances aren't the same, but Ellie gets her in a way that Steph had been missing, which led to her very quickly wanting to trust Ellie. They're kind of a disaster on occasion, thanks to the fact their friendship is a perfect example of one forged in fire, as well as outburts of temper, but Steph cares a lot about Ellie, she trusts her, and overall they're good for each other. She feels incredibly protective towards Ellie and wants to do everything she can to keep her safe, and to help her cope with everything the world has thrown at her, though she tries not to let it result in her treating Ellie like she's not good enough. Still, Steph is at a point where she's willing to do almost anything for the other girl.

Nikolai Luzhin
Eastern Promises

You always make small talk with dangerous men, dyevochka?

Nikolai is mafiya, a vor, which makes him an extremely dangerous man and Steph knows it. But there's a familiarity in it that was a little too tempting to resist, and the conversation ended up being much more than she bargained for. Nikolai has gotten more honesty from her than most other people in Exsilium have, even those she considers friends, in part because she doesn't feel any need to protect him from the more terrible things in her past. And he's been gentle with her, as much as a man like him can be gentle, which she is confused about, intrigued by, and grateful for. She doesn't trust him, but she likes him, in her own way, and can tell that there's more to him than what's on the surface.

Vanadi
original

Lithe, graceful, beautiful, potentially dangerous... all of those, certainly. But as you haven't mauled me yet, I wouldn't peg you with vicious.

Vanadi is a bad decision. Steph first met him when an unfortunate mess with the transports left him a few years younger than he should be - before he'd been turned into a cyborg - when he was, in his own words, "a little shit". Surprisingly, she put up with the flirting, in part because in a world where she has no idea where she stands, some dude trying to get into her pants is comforting in it's familiarity. He's a lot nicer at his proper age, and she's starting to suspect he's a genuinely good person under all the ego and flirting, which just reassures her that she made the right decision in befriending him. He's (sort of) taken off his mask in front of her, and she's (sort of) told him about Sionis, so she does trust him a little, and occasionally encourages the flirting, because she's only human and the attention is nice. She still thinks he can be a little shit sometimes.

Collette
Animorphs

You're dying. And there's nothing to help here. Except for you. No one should die alone. Not anyone, and not one of my friends. I'm not going, Steph, so you can just deal with that and grouch at me later.

Steph underestimated Collette a little at first; she seemed a little too cheery for someone in the situation they're in, even if Steph appreciated just joking around with someone. It didn't take her long to realize there was a lot more to Collette than meets the eye, and she managed to make Steph actually think, which can be a little tricky with someone so stubborn. The friendliness can make Steph worry a little, that Collette might be too trusting, but Coll has proved herself to be an incredibly capable young woman and Steph respects her as a friend and an ally.

She also held Steph while she was dying, which is... complicated, but Steph is endlessly grateful for the comfort.

Saul Goodman
Breaking Bad

I know I said I didn't want anything from you, but I do now: I want you to believe that I'm more sorry than you probably think I'm capable of being for everything that happened back home, and I want you to forgive me. I can't lose you and Jesse at the same time, Steph. You don't have to trust me or even pretend that you like me anymore after this, but — please.

Dick Grayson
DC Comics

I just wouldn't want him to -to say we didn't need Batgirl anymore.

There were two Robins already in Exslium when Steph first arrived, and it felt a little like bad luck that it was the two of them she didn't really know. It didn't help that they were both so young and for a long time she was kind of overwhelmed by the whole thing. Jason went home, but Dick's still here and slowly she's working out how to deal with him. It's hard, when she isn't sure how much she should tell him about his future, and when she has a little bit of baggage with the Dick Grayson at home, but she tries not to hold it against him.

The worst part is realizing just how badly Bruce has done a number on the kid, how desperate he is for approval and how scared of failure. She's worried he's going to push himself too hard for a man that probably can't even tell him son he loves him. She's caught between wanting to protect Dick and wanting to show him that she respects what he can do as Robin. She's not sure she's doing a great job of it, but she's trying.

Ellie
The Last Of Us

I ain't gonna go anywhere on you, I swear.

Don't ask her how it happened, because she has no idea, but somehow Ellie managed to easily insinuate herself into Steph's life. Not that she's complaining, since she adores her, but she's still a little confused by how much she cares for the girl already. Ellie's a tough kid, who comes from a world that sounds awful, but she hasn't let that make her too bitter and cynical; she still makes jokes and reads comics and gets excited about trying new foods, which is something Steph respects a lot. Despite how different there circumstances are, Steph sees a lot of herself in Ellie, especially when she was that age, and it kicks her protective instincts into overdrive.

She wants to keep Ellie safe, but mostly importantly she wants to make sure Ellie is happy, that she has a chance for something good in her life while in Exsilium, after spending so long in a world falling apart.
