Since you've declined to post on the public HMD, I guess I'll come here.
Could you explain the reasoning behind using so many live action PB icons? As far as I can tell, Stephanie Brown has had more than enough comic facetime for icons and it feels like you're going with using the PB icons only more and more. It's a little jarring, enough that it took some time to even realize who the character was without looking at the name in the profile.
In the first proper game I played in, the other comic players used the combination of comic art and PBs so I sorta just got into the habit. I'm not really a huge fan of the artists on Batgirl other than Garbett (I love Nguyen's covers, but I'm eh on his panels, and I just can't with how Caldwell draws her.) Since the run is over, I keep adding more PB icons as Teresa is in more movies, while I've got p. much everything I can out of Garbett's issues (plus some To and Noto art where Steph appeared in other books).
Also I just don't think comic art really gives a great range of expression, there's a lot of expression that don't seem to translate well or just don't get drawn, so I like using a PB to get a more realistic range of faces that people make.
That said, I do need to do a cull of some of the PB icons and redo some of the comics ones, 'cause the ones I made are a bit shit so I don't like to use them as much. But IDK, I'm not planning to do a complete overhaul on the icons I use when it's not really hurting anyone, but hopefully this explains why, at least!
(I'm unscreening this just so anyone else who might've had the same question can see my response.)
Hi, I just wanted to drop you a note that your bringing Stephanie into the Mask or Menace test drive made me uncomfortable, knowing that there was a Stephanie in game already. Setting up a backstory for your Stephanie to play off the Cass just seemed like you didn't care that there is already a Stephanie in play. I'm sure it wasn't malicious, but I'd recommend that you be more aware of that in the future so that you remain considerate of other players.
You're totally right and I'm really sorry for making you uncomfortable. The Cass is a friend of mine so I got caught up in being excited to tag her and didn't think about how it would come across when there's already a Steph in game.
Thanks for bringing it up with me. It definitely wasn't malicious, but yeah, it was shitty and I should've thought it through. I'm gonna go talk to MoM's Steph just to make sure I didn't make them uncomfortable too.
As someone not in the game, but following the DC cast, I feel uncomfortable reading a lot of your threads with the bats in particular. I know Steph is supposed to be CRAU, but it feels as if you fall back on that to reflect your OOC preferences at times.
I just wanted to point that out to you, as it can be incredibly unfair to your castmates when you do this.
Thanks for bringing this up, I know I'm still working out the balance between the CRAU and playing with castmates from canon, since there was only a small Batcast in Exsilium.
I'm not 100% sure what you mean by OOC preferences, though? I try not bring anything OOC into how I play my characters (I mean obviously I have like - certain things I like playing but in terms of characterisation/etc I try to keep that divide) so if there's anything in particular you had in mind, you can bring it up with me.
I also know that it can be difficult to play with a CRAU, I had no idea when I tossed my app in that the Batcast was going to be so huge, and I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. ICly Steph is pretty shaken up by events so she's definitely going to be a little difficult, but she'll even out in a month or so and go back a bit more to her regular self. The thread with Jason was one in particular that took a turn I hadn't been expecting (I was avoiding her finding out about Dick for that reason), and it's something I'd probably do differently a second time around.
But at the end of the day Steph is a CRAU and my aim is to play with that without making anyone else uncomfortable. I'd hope that if any of my castmates had any concerns they'd be willing to bring it up with me, but until then I'll just be trying to keep that balance in mind and try to be as fair as possible to everyone.
