[There's no reply, because as soon as she realizes who the message is from, she kind of squeaks, drops her tablet, and thinks Vanadi.
Teleportation is so useful.
There's a split second between where she appears and when she's got her arms around his shoulders and is hugging him probably a little too tightly, but hopefully he won't care. Or feel it at all, depending how much of him is metal these days.
It doesn't matter, though, as long as he's here. Where she can bury her face against the crook of his neck and pretend like she wasn't terrified that he was gone forever.]
[ He's startled for a moment, tensed and nearly ready to start striking at the sudden appearance of someone very near to him — but then he realizes who it is. He's hugging her back in the next second, just as tightly. No more of him seems to be metal than last time — really, he doesn't seem much different at all.
He considers making a joke, but the debate doesn't last long at all. Actually, he'd much rather kiss her. So he does just that, pulling back just far enough to line up the angles first. Gods, he's missed these lips. ]
[ He doesn't much mind being pushed away, but Steph isn't the only one with hands up to frame a face. He sets one at each side, palms at her neck and thumbs stroking her cheeks fondly. The left one is cold — he hasn't bothered with gloves in a while. ]
Have I really been away so long that you'd grow so cold? Why, a triumphantly returning war hero really ought to have a kiss!
[ Nevermind that he already grabbed said kiss. Double nevermind that he's not any kind of returning war hero. He grins, adds: ] Or two. Three, for luck?
[ He draws back somewhat further, but can't let go entirely. It just means that he drops his hands to rest at her forearms, still standing terribly close. ]
I'd ask about all that I missed, but really, I'm a bit more interested in what you've been up to. Not married yet, are you?
[ Ah, so Saul is still in the picture. Her reluctance makes sense, then. Ah, well. But to the rest, he quirks a smile and leans in, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek, just at the corner of her mouth. ]
That's why I'm not asking about it, my dear.
[ He steps away, but holds tight to one of her hands to pull her along. ]
Let's see what supplies we have lying about in the kitchen! It's been far too long since I've cooked anything for someone.
[The kiss makes her sigh. She really would like to just drag him to a bed and forget about everything for a little while, but she won't do that to Saul. Especially not know.
Still, she follows without hesitation.]
What a coincidence, I can't remember the last time I ate a proper meal.
Well, considering we're on the gods-forsaken moon, I can hardly doubt it. [ He huffs. ] And might I add — it's a bit shameful that we're all still here.
[ He glances back at that, suffering a tiny stirring of guilt. Knowing Steph, that's probably a bit of a sore spot. She might even think she should have single-handedly fixed it by now. ]
Ah, well, it can't last. We'll manage that sooner or later.
[ He comes to a fork in the maze of VR rooms and pauses briefly, consulting his mental map of the place. Then he's got it, and they're moving on again. ]
I'm a bit hesitant to see what the kitchen has in store, though. Who's been running supply runs, do you know? I hope they knew what they were doing with kitchen stocking.

Down, boy.
[But she's still grinning and cupping his face in her hands like she just needs to look at him for a second, to reassure herself he's real.]

Some of us have been busy while you were off adventuring. I'll have to take a raincheck.
[And she does actually mean that; the agreement with Saul was that they talk about it beforehand, so...]

Not yet. [She huffs a laugh, just a little awkward because of that whole wedding ring debacle.] Me and Saul are - um, you know.
[sleeping together, but it's more than that, she's just not quite sure which word to use.
And her smile drops as she continues:]
Everything else is really fucked up.

Seems like we've done something to the place, but we're not sure exactly what just yet.
[She's not sure she wants to know, at this rate, unless it means they can get off the damn base.]
We were doing pretty good until the mess last month, I dunno if people've been keeping up with supply runs in the wake of that.

Well, I'm sure I can make do. But if it's terrible, I hope you know who not to blame!
[ Yes. Food. Much safer a topic. ]
i'm so good at html
As long as it's not prepackaged crap and I don't have to cook it myself, you're not gonna hear a single complaint outta me.
