Nah, being naive would be if you thought that people couldn't do terrible things. Thinking too highly of them just means you expect them to be good when they're probably not gonna be.

I think if you just assume people aren't going to be good, they'll be able to see that and they won't care as much about being good. Like, if people aren't going to trust them anyways, they might not put in the effort, you know? So it's like a... There's a phrase for it, I just can't remember.
